Malcesine is a tiny town at the top of Lake Garda, making it a little tricky to get to. Here are some useful details to make your trip as stress-free as possible:

Public Transport
Every 20 minutes there’s a shuttle bus (€6) from the airport to Verona Stazione FS.
Once there take bus n°162/163/164 or 185 for Lake Garda (€5.80 ) on the front it will say 'Garda' as that’s the final stop and you will have to change buses at Garda Bus station.
The next bus is n°483 - final stop Malcesine - or n°484 which stops in Malcesine but goes onto Riva del Garda. www.atv.verona.it
Driving
Follow signs for “Lago di Garda” or signs for Lazise, Bardolino, Garda or Malcesine. There is only one road by the lake that goes from the south (Lazise) right up to north of the lake (Riva del Garda) The road is called Gardesana Orientale (SS 249). It goes through every town on the lake – OR – follow (green) signs to Autostrada A22, go on the motorway take the exit “Affi, lago di Garda sud”. Follow for Garda and you get onto the Gardesana road (SS 249)

Every 90 mins there is a bus from the airport to Brescia FS (train Station €12)

Then take bus 164 to Garda (on the front it will say Garda as that’s the final stop) and you will have to change buses at Garda Bus station.

Public Transport
From the airport there is a bus every 30 minutes to Mestre F.S. (train station).
The ticket is €10. www.atvo.it
From Mestre F.S. you can get a direct train to Peschiera (from €11,70). www.trenitalia.com

Driving
Take the A4 (Milano – Venezia) towards Milano, take the exit on to the A22 (Brennero – Modena) just before Verona sud (it is sign posted as A22 Brennero – Modena). Take the exit AFFI – LAGO DI GARDA SUD.
Then follow signs towards Lago di Garda and you’ll get in to Garda. Go north on the Gardesana road (only lakeside road) towards Malcesine.

Public Transport
If travelling on trains remember to validate your ticket BEFORE getting on the train. There are machines on EVERY platform.
There are different kind of trains:
Regionali – the oldest one, makes more stops, CHEAPEST
Intercity – oldish trains a bit more expensive than regionali
Freccia Bianca – the “posh ones”, make fewer stops, more expensive
Freccia rossa – fast & new, most expensive
You will need to validate your bus ticket also but that is done directly on the bus, or use the QR code that you have on your phone if you have bought the bus ticket online
